Using Our Libraries
the easy way

Confused about how to order tapes through our libraries? You’re not alone. But let’s take a quick tour to show you how easy it really is.
Here we go. After going through the General Library catalog you notice a special episode of The Eddie Bracken Show, and so you jot down that the episode is on page 444. Now you move on to find all of the great Escape stories on tapes 586-595. Now you want to order the tapes.
First, you already know which catalog had your shows, the General Library in this case. Now you decide if you want to order open reel or cassette format or CD where available. Let’s say you prefer cassette. Keeping in mind that you need the cassettes and tape numbers you’ve checked, check the sperdvac directory on page 13 of this issue of Radiogram. Tape 444 is available in cassette from General Library—Cassettes 1-500. Bob Steinmetz is the librarian. Tapes 586-595 are available from General Library—Cassettes 501-1000. Hoag Schmele is the librarian. You will order your tapes from these librarians at the addresses listed in the directory.
No matter which format you select, an order is five tape numbers. Each open reel tape has three hours of shows. When you order a tape in cassette format you receive the same shows that are on the open reel copy, but these are recorded onto three separate cassettes. Because other members may be trying to check out some of the same tapes, it is best to list plenty of alternatives. Otherwise, you might have to wait a long time before your order is filled. Also, you may order from more than one library at the same time, but remember to send in a separate order to each librarian.
Remember, when you order please remit the rental fee (fees are listed below), and make all checks payable to sperdvac. And please include your membership number on all orders.
Also, be advised that our libraries are for members to enjoy. You may choose to make copies of tapes so that you might enjoy the shows later, or, if you wish, you can listen once and return our tapes.
There. Our journey is over. Now enjoy.
