RADIO GOES TO THE MOVIES

| The American Cinematheque’s Egyptian Theatre in
Hollywood is hosting a special “Radio Goes to the Movies” program May
10 through 12 featuring re-creations of OTR radio series coupled with
screenings of classic films associated with radio series.
The program begins Friday night, May 10, at 7:30 with a re-creation by 30 Minutes to Curtain of the classic radio thriller “Sorry, Wrong Number,” heard on Suspense followed by a screening of Anatole Litvak’s film version featuring Barbara Stanwyck and Burt Lancaster. On Saturday afternoon, May 11, at 2 o’clock New Frequency will re-create an episode of The Whistler followed by a screening of William Castle’s film version of the series featuring Richard Dix. At 6:30, 30 Minutes to Curtain re-creates an episode of Pat Novak for Hire followed by a screening of Alfred Werker’s He Walks by Night with Jack Webb. Following the film, Bobb Lynes moderates a panel discussion of the works of Jack Webb. On Sunday, May 12, at 5 o’clock John Huston’s celebrated thriller The Maltese Falcon with Humphrey Bogart, Mary Astor, Peter Lorre and Sidney Greenstreet will be screened followed by a production of a new and original radio play written and directed by Tony Palermo titled Rick Lowell, Private Eye: “The Stuff that Dreams are Made Of.”
